On-screen type is easier to read at the loom

Readability Voice Control Apple Watch iPad

In version 1.6.6 we shipped readability improvements and fixed a few bugs that showed up at the loom. The details are below.

When you track a draft from the loom bench, you want the screen to stay easy to read in normal room light. We improved contrast so pick numbers and labels stand out against your yarn colours. Pale and bright weft used to be the trickiest case. The same changes carry to iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.

We also smoothed out opening a draft from Files on a Mac, printing a drawdown from iPad, opening Settings, and waiting for Voice Control while a headset paired. Those paths should feel steadier now.

Check your pick from the bench

Each yarn colour on the tracker gets its own contrast choice. If light type would disappear into a lemon or sky-blue weft, the number switches to dark type. On a dark yarn, it stays light. The goal is a quick glance from arm's length, not a second look with reading glasses.

Open a draft you keep in Files

Many of us store WIF files in iCloud or on an external drive and open them from the Files app, including on a Mac. An error could appear even though the draft was already in the library. You should be able to open the file and start weaving without that detour.

Print a drawdown or open Settings

On iPad, sharing a draft image to the printer could close WeavingGem before the print sheet came up. On Mac, opening Settings from the library could do the same. Neither should bump you out mid-task anymore.

Turn on Voice Control with a headset

Voice Control helps when both hands are on the shuttle. Linking the microphone, especially over Bluetooth, used to freeze the loom view for a moment. The screen should stay live while the link finishes. Once you hear the chime, say "next" or "back" the way you already do.

WeavingGem is on the App Store for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. If you already have it installed, check for version 1.6.6 under Updates when this post goes live.
