WeavingGem is now much faster. Pattern previews open and zoom smoothly, and Draft Designer keeps up with you, even on your biggest designs.
Small samples always felt quick. Full-size projects, like a set of kitchen towels or a blanket, didn't respond as quickly when you zoomed in or moved around. Now a big draft moves as smoothly as a small one, on iPhone and iPad.
Zoom in to count a float, then zoom back out
Pinch to zoom and the cloth now follows your fingers, even on a full towel. Zoom right in to count the threads in a float, then pull back out to see the whole design. When you are zoomed far out, the fine grid lines step aside so the colour pattern reads clearly. They come back as soon as you zoom in close enough to count.
See each change on the cloth right away
Draw threading or treadling, or paint a stripe of yarn colour, and the drawdown updates under your finger. WeavingGem only redraws the threads you changed instead of the whole cloth, so a big draft feels as quick as a small one.
Read threading and treadling at any zoom
On very wide or very long drafts, the threading and treadling could look soft when you zoomed in. They now stay sharp at every zoom level, so you can check a single end or pick up close. The drawdown preview on the Pattern tab got the same speed-up, so it is just as smooth to zoom and pan. That holds for drafts you make in Draft Designer and for patterns you import as WIF files.
How much faster version 1.6.5 is
We timed a full-size kitchen towel draft, 24 by 32 inches at 24 ends per inch, before and after this update. Shorter bars are better.

Pinch to zoom changed the most. Before, the app redrew every grid line in the draft on each step of a pinch. Now it redraws nothing while you pinch, so the cloth stays under your fingers.
