How do I open a WIF file on my iPhone or iPad?
Tap Open WIF File on the WeavingGem home screen and choose your file. You can also tap a .wif file in Mail or Files and choose WeavingGem to open it.

Where can my WIF files come from?
Many weavers have WIF files from weaving software like Fiberworks or Bower, or from an online pattern library. If you don't have a file yet, you can build a draft in the app with Create Draft instead.
How do I open the file?
You can open a WIF file from Files, iCloud Drive, Mail, or AirDrop.
- On the home screen, tap Open WIF File.
- Choose the file.
- When the draft appears in your library, check the colours and loom setup before you start at the loom.
Or tap a .wif attachment in Mail or Files, and choose WeavingGem when you're asked which app to use.
Which drafts will open?
WeavingGem works with drafts from four to sixteen shafts. It also opens lift plan drafts, which show shaft lifts only. See the lift plan guide.
How many files can I import for free?
The free version lets you import two of your own WIF files. The sample pattern doesn't count toward that limit. Pro removes the limit. See free vs Pro.
Tip
Yarn colours in a WIF file are often placeholders. Before you start, open Details and Colors and match them to your yarn. If you need to fix the sequence or a shaft, tap Edit Draft to make changes before you dress the loom.
